Since the inception of laminate flooring, ease of maintenance has been one of its largest assets.

While laminate flooring is highly resistant to stains and abrasions, it is not indestructible. In order to maximize the durability and beauty of your laminate flooring, we recommend the following practices as part of your floor's normal care and maintenance.

The following tips will help you maintain your floor and ensure years of performance so that no build-up of dirt will affect its allergy free and easy to clean surface.

Cleaning Tips

  1. Sweep, vacuum or wipe with a damp cloth or well-wrung mop.
  2. Wipe up any spills immediately with an absorbent clean, soft cloth or towel. Despite the relative moisture-resistance, remove all excess water immediately.
  3. Never apply water directly to the floor.
  4. Never treat, seal, sand, varnish, polish, lacquer, refinish or wax the floor. These treatments will adversely affect the intrinsic properties of the laminated floor. The surface is resistant to wear and any further treatment is therefore unnecessary.
  5. Never use abrasive cleaners.
  6. Never steam clean as this may damage the laminate flooring surface.
  7. Never clean grooves with a pointed or metal object.
  8. Use Steinhaus laminated floor cleaner to maintain the lustre and allergy free surface of your floor.
  9. For stubborn stains, use acetone on a clean cloth. Always apply cleaning solution to the cloth or mop, and not directly to the floor.

Maintenance Tips

  • Long-term wear and tear is caused by dirt trodden into the floor from outside. Walked in dirt such as gravel and sand acts like sandpaper and can cause unpleasant scratches. To prevent this we strongly recommend that you place a doormat outside the exterior entrances to collect excess moisture, sand, grit and other potentially damaging substances from being tracked onto your laminate floor.
  • The use of felt pads fitted under tables, chairs and cupboards is recommended. This makes them easier to move around and prevents scratching.
  • Equip castors or rollers, with soft treads on office chairs, filing trolleys and mobile containers. Replace any existing old, hard or sharp edged castors.
  • Place drip trays under all plants.
  • Rearrange furniture occasionally for increased indentation resistance.
